Adelaide's Speedway City and Murray Machining & Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway are happy to announce a new initiative that will see the tracks offer two special events over the March long weekend for 410 Sprintcars this season.

The annual Sprintcar Nationals (Speedway City) and 40 Lap Sprintcar Marathon (Murray Bridge) will be held on Saturday & Sunday, 9th & 10th March and will give teams plenty to race for, with the combined prizemoney offered totalling more than $40,000.

The 35 lap Nationals will pay $10,000 to win, while the 40 Lap Marathon will pay $5,000, a nice payday for any competitor who can take the clean sweep.

"We are happy to have been able to put this together with Murray Bridge," said Speedway City Promoter Wendy Turner.

"It will provide a great opportunity for our local drivers to race for excellent money, and it will make a trip to SA more than worthwhile for the leading interstate teams."

Murray Bridge Promoter Tim McAvaney was equally enthused.

"I can't wait for March to come around. This has the makings of one of the best weekends of Sprintcar racing you can see in South Australia."

"I'm sure this will be the start of great things in years to come."

The deal between the two tracks further strengthens the relationship built over the last few years.

With many teams returning to the east from the World Series Sprintcars final and the Krikke Boys Race in WA, it is expected that they will pick up the two consecutive nights on their way home, offering fans a quality national field of cars.

It is a win for Wingless Sprint drivers too, as they will support both nights with their own special events. Interstate Wingless Sprint competitors are expected to nominate to contest the weekend ensuring huge fields for both divisions. 360 Sprintcars are also programmed at Speedway City contesting their annual Mayor's Cup.
