The battle to determine the 2012/13 KRE Race Engines Sprintcar Track Champion begins in earnest this Saturday night when Round 1 of the Championship kicks off a massive season of Sprintcar racing at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway in Brisbane.

The season-long Championship, which will again comprise fifteen Rounds this season, makes up the bulk of the Sprintcar schedule at the Archerfield venue between this weekend's opening show and the Championship Finale which is set down for May 25 next year.

Mixed in between those Rounds are events that will whet any open wheel racing fan's appetite with the Lucky 7's event in November, International Sprintcar shows featuring Knoxville Nationals Champion Donny Schatz in December and January, the Capalaba Wreckers Sprintcar Cup, the Tri-City Shootout and of course the biggest event in the country, the Australian Sprintcar Championship to be held over three explosive nights in January!

Saturday night's KRE race has already attracted a stellar field of nominations including three of the best in the business in Garry Brazier, Robbie Farr and James McFadden who will take on a host of Qld stars chasing Round 1 honours. All three of these drivers have reached the pinnacle of Sprintcar racing in Australia by winning both the Australian Title and the World Series Sprintcar Championship during their careers.

A bumper programme is in place for this weekend's event, one that includes the popular high-flying, car-crushing Monster Trucks, Fireworks for the kids and the JET Car plus Round 1 of the Polar Ice Qld Midget Car Series, ASCF Junior Sedans, Modlites and support Sedans.

Pre-event ticketing is now available via the Speedway's website at brisbanespeedway.com.au (MasterCard and Visa accepted). General admission gates will be open from 4:00pm on the day with early racing from 4:45pm and the main programme scheduled to start at 6:00pm following the National Anthem.
