The first major Sprintcar event of the Australian Sprintcar season will take the green this Saturday night with the opening round of the KRE Sprintcar Track Championship at the Supercheap Archerfield Speedway in Brisbane. The meeting has attracted a line-up of 32 drivers from across the country including four former Australian Champions.

Headlining the interstate challenge will be Perth based Robbie Farr in the East Coast Pipelines #7 and Sydney’s Garry Brazier, who will spearhead a three car Rocket Industries attack. Joining Brazier in the multi-car outfit will be his Son Jordan, a fourth generation racer, and Matt Young.

The local contingent at the opening event of the year will include the likes of current World Series Sprintcars Champion James McFadden, Andrew Scheuerle, Peter Lack, Todd Wanless, Danny Reidy, Darren Jensen and McKay Spectacular winner Luke Oldfield. The event will also see the return of Terry Bracken who will pilot the #19 Mitchell Motorsports Cheetah.

The event in Queensland isn’t the only Sprintcar action that can be seen in Australia this weekend with the season down south also beginning with official practice days at Murray Bridge in South Australia and at Avalon in Victoria. The practice days in the Southern states will provide the ideal opportunity to get in some valuable seat time before the Victorian season opener at Avalon on October 13 with the unique Jackpot Invitational and the Bill Wigzell battle of the Bridge at the Murray Bridge Speedway on October 20.

The Murray Bridge Sprintcar practice kicks off at 1pm on Sunday afternoon while the SRA Practice at Avalon will also begin at 1pm.

Already the Murray Bridge meeting on October 20 is looking like it will be a cracking start to the South Australian season with Garry and Jordan Brazier, Matt Young, Stephen Bell, Nick Lacey, Shaun Dobson, Danny Pestka and current South Australian Champion Jamie Cobby currently leading the entry list.
