After two months of very dry conditions in the South East corner of Qld, Murphy's Law would ultimately dictate that as soon as the 2012/13 racing season was set to open at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway then the dark clouds would roll their way across the Brisbane skies.

As light and intermittent rain fell mid-programme it looked like the opening Round of the KRE Race Engines Sprintcar Track Championship Feature would be lost but as he has in the past, Promoter and track curator John Kelly went to work on the raceway to get the Feature in and give the fans who sat out the drizzling rain an opportunity to see the night's main event.

Being ahead of schedule throughout the event despite a very full programme which included the Sprintcars, Polar Ice Midget Series, Monster Trucks, JET Car, Fireworks and support classes, John consulted with Sprintcars Qld officials before electing to wait out one final shower of rain before reworking the track for the Feature. For Todd Wanless, that decision was a good one as raced to the chequers ahead of Garry Brazier and Darren Jensen to win his first Sprintcar Feature at the venue since May 2011.

The Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway promotional team thank the fans attending last night's event for their patience during the re-working of the track for the Sprintcar Feature and look forward to Round 2 of the Series on October 13.
