The confidence of Jamie O’Neill was recently boosted, after scoring a top-10 finish in the latest round of the Valvoline Raceway Sprintcar Track Championship.
In what was his sixth appearance at the Sydney (NSW) track, the Northern Territory-based racer was consistent throughout his two heat races – finishing in fourth and sixth – and then started the 30-lap feature race from position 15. After previously failing to finish a feature race at Valvoline Raceway, he was able to stay out of harm’s way, progressed forward and was rewarded with a 10th place finish.
“I’ve had a lot of speed at Valvoline Raceway this season but I just haven’t had much luck in the feature races, so to come away with a top-10 finish in the feature race is a good result,” expressed the NT # 24 Xtreme Garden Care supported Maxim driver. “It’s amazing what a good night does for your confidence, and hopefully we can build on this result in the upcoming race meetings.”
O’Neill will now have a short break prior to returning to Valvoline Raceway on January 3 and 4, followed by the Scott Darley Challenge at Valvoline Raceway on January 17 and 18 and then January 25 at Valvoline Raceway. After that, O’Neill and his team will return to Darwin.
