Leading into this weekend’s Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at the Sungold Stadium at Warrnambool South Australian Brad Keller will be hoping to continue his recent form as he attempts to qualify for 40 lap A-Main for the second consecutive year.

After sitting out the early rounds of the World Series Sprintcars Speedweek Tour Brad returned to the driving seat at Avalon on December 30 and despite the fact he hadn’t contested a Sprintcar event since running second at Adelaide Motorsport Park on December 10 Brad slotted straight back into the pointy end of the field.

Following a second and a fourth place in the heats Brad managed to finish seventh in the 35-lap finale at the Lara, Victoria venue but it could have been even better as he was running fourth in the latter stages before being a late race caution.

The next stop on Keller’s return was the venue he heads to this weekend with a visit to the Warrnambool high banks on New Year’s Day which ended in a stunning third place behind James McFadden and Jamie Veal. Considering the tough week that Brad and his Family had endured this was a remarkable result and on the podium Brad was elated and overcome with emotion.

“This result is as good as win for us right now. I really must thank my guys, Neil and Hayden for giving me a great car tonight and for getting well prepared so we could go racing” added Brad.

Following Speedweek the team returned to their home base for a race at Murray Bridge less than a week later (January 7) with six Americans present for the USC Aus Vs USA International Sprintcars. Once again, the JRR / Shadetec #19 Maxim was on the pace with a heat win transferring Brad into the top 8 dash, where he would finish third.

After starting from position three in the main event Keller ran up front for the entire main event just falling short of his first A-Main win of the season finishing second behind Steven Lines.

Prior to contesting the Classic Brad will stop in at Mount Gambier to race at the Kings Challenge on Thursday night (January 19) before taking a night off and returning to the track on Saturday for Night 2 of the Classic (January 21).

Brad Keller would like to thank his corporate supporters for the 2016/17 season including Peter Page Holden, James Rosenberg Racing, Shadetec, Daniel and Son Transport, Bunyip Print & Copy, Fatchen Cartage Contractors, Spitwater SA & Steve Wickes Powder Coaters.
