The defending Ultimate Sprintcar Championship SA Champion Luke Dillon got his series defence off to a good start last Saturday night as he finished third in the opening round at the Murray Bridge Speedway. After starting from position three in the main event Luke managed to maintain his position in the 30-lap finale coming up a couple of spots short of becoming a three-time Bill Wigzell Battle of the Bridge Champion.

After starting the night qualifying second in his heat group Luke went on to secure an opening heat win by a sizable margin before finishing fifth in his second 10 lap preliminary. Therefore, at the completion of the heats Luke managed to qualify directly into the Top 8 Shootout finishing with the third fastest lap in the Gold Shootout.

With the race track for the main event being extremely demanding it proved hard to pass on but Luke was still pleased to finish on the podium in his new look #s81 Action Line Marking Maxim.

“I must congratulate Ryan on the win, it has been a while since he has won a race and he deserved the win tonight. Our car pace was good but I just needed to push a bit harder in those track conditions” commented Luke after the race.

Luke will now go into the next round of the USC SA at the Murray Bridge Speedway on November 4, 2017 third overall in points.

Luke Dillon Motorsport would like to thank the following corporate partners for their support throughout the 2017/18 Sprintcar season: Action Line Marking, National Karate Academies, South West Conveyancing, Scotcher Race Fuels & Oils and Maxwill Race Engines.
