The Sprintcar season for the Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria gets under way with the opening round of the 2017-2018 Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series at Avalon Raceway this Saturday night the 14th of October. Brett Milburn the current Eureka Series Champion will be looking for a strong start in the defence of his title but he will have three past Eureka Garages & Sheds Series Champions, Jamie Veal, Shaun Dobson and Mike Van Bremen along with a host of Eureka Series round winners to contend with looking to take out the opening night round win.

Brett Milburn should be on the money straight away driving his own car and having his regular Team around him while both Shaun Dobson and Mike Van Bremen will be stepping into new gear driving for Team owners.

Shaun will be the pilot of the David & Gayle Dickson owned V3 for selected rounds of the Eureka Series and other major events in and around Victoria while he will also drive his own car VA21 at other events interstate. You can never say never in a lot of sports and Mike Van Bremen who is a multiple Series Champion has found his work commitments has allowed him to step back into a Sprintcar for selected events as well. Mike has teamed up with Eureka Series sponsor David Challons of Camden Signage & Building Services and will be driving the V45 J&J Sprintcar.

Jamie Veal has another big season booked in and will be seen competing in his regular sprintcar the SWI V35 in the early part of the season and at the first four rounds of the Eureka Series before stepping into the Krikke Motorsports Team W2 sprintcar for the World Series campaign and many of the countries Blue Ribbon events.

With many regular Eureka Garages and Sheds Series competitors already nominated the likes of Dennis Jones, David Aldersley, Jacob Smith, Sam Wren, Peter Doukas, Charles Hunter, WA’s Scott Reilly and David Mckay the opening night is looking to be a first class event.

Glen Sutherland is also nominated but he will not be competing in all the Series rounds due to getting a start as a World Series Sprintcars contracted driver this season. Jye Okeeffe returns to racing this weekend after an accident where he was injured that put Jye out of action for most of last season’s racing. Jye will also be doing selected rounds this season as he too will be a WSS contracted driver this season.

Now while Glen & Jye will not be at all the rounds of the Series this season two very popular drivers return to racing this season after a year off. Lady racer Kristy Ellis is back along the excitement man Ryan Davis. Ryan went to Darwin recently for a few events and he picked up his first feature win.
Another of the lady racers entered is Jessica Moulden, Jessica put in some very creditable performance last season with the limited program the team had.

Also entered for round one of the Eureka Garages & Sheds Series is Victoria’s young guns, Rusty Hickman, Brayden Parr and Jordyn Charge, these three drivers were stand out drivers last season and are sure to be drivers of the future in this sport.

One driver entered for the opening round of the Series was David Murcott but due to a recent injury sustained David is most likely to be a scratching for this weekend but if things go right for Mathew Eastham and his Team they may be able to debut the striking new V88 Sprintcar in its new colour scheme with many new sponsors at round two of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series at Heartland Raceway Echuca/Moama the following weekend on Saturday the21st. David Murcott won the opening round of the Eureka Series at Heartland last season for the V88 Team, let’s hope all will be fine for that event.

The opening round of the Eureka Series has attracted competitors from five states, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, New South Wales and Victoria.
A full listing of all drivers nominated so far can be found on the SCW web site www.sprintcarworld.com.au or the SRA of Vic web site www.sravic.com

Once again the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series already has prize poole of over $40,000 committed to so far and with KTM Australia’s award of a 2018 KTM 350 EXC on offer for a top ten driver at the end of the Series a good start in the points standings can be a big plus in the early few rounds of the Series.

The Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria has had over ten new drivers registered this season and four of these drivers that have come from other divisions have nominated for this event, Bobby Daly will be in the V8 sprintcar while Rhys Baxter will drive his VA81 car, VA88 will be driven by Grant Stansfield and another new lady racer Carly Walsh will be at the wheel of the family VA4 sprintcar.

With so many sprintcars now registered in Victoria the SRA has had to use two state prefixes to accommodate the competitor’s needs, V stands for Victoria while the VA is for Victoria Australia.

With all the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series sponsors recently confirmed a new sponsor has joined the Series this week. Indy Race Parts based in Geelong owned and operated by Domain Ramsay has come on board and will sponsor a $100 product voucher to the top point’s scorer at each round of the Series before the main events.
