After missing the previous round of the USC Qld at Toowoomba Mitchell Motorsports and their driver Danny Reidy returned to action in style as they were convincing winner in the latest round of the series that incorporated the Pit Stop 50 last Saturday night.

After qualifying third in his heat group, and seventh overall in the 34-car field, Reidy drove the #19 Eagle Silicone Ignition Leads / Penrite supported machine to a 3rd and a 2nd placed result in his heat races.

Therefore, Reidy started from the second row and he quickly moved into second, a position he would hold until the pit stop on lap 25.

“During the pit stop we were a little concerned about the tyre wear on the left rear but we elected not to change it. This was a decision that ultimately paid off as the guys who changed tyres in the break failed to fight their way back through” added Team Owner Peter Mitchell.

Once the race got back underway Reidy immediately went on the attack passing the race leader Robbie Farr on lap 29 and from that point Reidy wasn’t headed as he went on to win by over 4 seconds.

“Man, it’s been a long time between drinks, that’s for sure. I feel like I earned this one, getting past Robbie before he had his incident. A big thanks to the guys, Peter and Lindy Mitchell for letting me drive this car and to our major sponsors Eagle Silicone Ignition Leads, Penrite and Desert Palms in Alice Springs. This is brilliant!”

Team Owner Peter Mitchell was also ecstatic to have won the main event breaking a long winless streak for the Brisbane based team.

“I honestly can’t remember our last win. It was probably about 7 years ago at Lismore with my Son Ricky in the car. It is also fantastic to be involved in Danny’s first win for a couple years and his first USC Qld main event win” he added.

Mitchell Motorsports will return to Toowoomba Good Friday for the next round of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship Queensland.
